Terms of Use
Effective and last updated: August 15, 2026
ChurchBoard is free, open-source software provided to help church production teams. You may use, copy, and modify it under the MIT License. It is provided without warranties.
Accepting these terms
By using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you download or use ChurchBoard, the software is also governed by its MIT License. If these website terms conflict with the MIT License regarding the software, the MIT License controls.
Permitted use
You may browse the website, follow its documentation, and download ChurchBoard for lawful purposes. The MIT License allows broad use, copying, modification, distribution, and contribution, subject to its notice requirements.
No fees or subscription
ChurchBoard itself is offered without a license fee or subscription. Third-party services or equipment connected to ChurchBoard may have their own costs, accounts, licenses, and terms.
Voluntary personal support
Any Venmo payment to @will-tapper is an optional personal tip to William Tapper. It is not a charitable contribution or tax-deductible donation, does not purchase goods or services, and creates no promise of support, features, access, influence, warranty, or preferential treatment. ChurchBoard remains free and open source whether or not you contribute.
No warranty
The website, software, documentation, downloads, and related materials are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. The project does not promise uninterrupted operation, compatibility with every system, or error-free information.
Production and safety decisions
Microphone status, sound-level information, timing, slide matching, livestream status, and control indicators are production aids. Confirm critical actions in the official equipment or service interface. Do not rely on ChurchBoard as the only source for emergency, hearing-safety, regulatory, life-safety, or other safety-critical decisions.
Your responsibilities
- Keep ChurchBoard on an appropriately secured church production network.
- Protect credentials and backups and follow the project’s security guidance.
- Obtain permission before displaying personal information, photographs, copyrighted media, or service-plan content.
- Follow the terms and acceptable-use rules of connected services and equipment.
- Do not use the website or project to violate law, interfere with systems, or harm others.
Third-party services and trademarks
ChurchBoard is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Planning Center, Shure, Sennheiser, Renewed Vision or ProPresenter, OBS Studio, Open Sound Meter, Restream, Apple, Microsoft, Raspberry Pi, or other named providers. Product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility. Third-party links, downloads, services, APIs, devices, and accounts are governed by their owners’ terms and policies.
Contributions and public communications
Ideas, bug reports, documentation, and code submitted through GitHub may be public and are governed by the project’s repository policies and applicable license. Do not submit confidential information, private credentials, personal data you lack permission to share, or security vulnerabilities in a public issue.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ChurchBoard contributors and copyright holders will not be liable for claims, damages, data loss, service disruption, production errors, lost revenue, or other liability arising from use of—or inability to use—the website, software, or related materials. Some jurisdictions do not allow every limitation, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
Changes and availability
The website, downloads, features, links, and these terms may change or be discontinued. The effective date above will show the latest revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
Questions
General questions may be posted on the ChurchBoard project page. Security concerns should follow the private-reporting instructions in the security guidance.
These terms are a practical project notice and are not legal advice.
